Baby Bunnies in a Carriage

What bunny family would be complete without babies?

My inspiration for this project was actually a house plant container I saw at Tuesday Morning:

I was going to make a baby bunny pram by cutting the handle off of an easter basket, but when I saw this I immediately started thinking it was the right scale for the Mr. & Mrs. Bunny, and the wheels moved.  I took it home and started playing with it.  (It's a good thing I have these moments of inspiration in stores like Tuesday Morning, otherwise they could be costly.)

I gathered a bunch of pastel ribbons from my stash, then started weaving them into the design of the basket:

I alternated big with small, patterns with solids.

Then covered the bottom with a pot holder.  (I knew I could have left it with nothing there; no one's ever really going to see the bottom.)
decorating the wheels

These are the baby bunnies for the basket.  These are actually a pair of infant bath snuggies that I also purchased at Tuesday Morning.

The only thing missing is a "top" for the carriage.  I cut 4 eleven inch pieces of bailing wire and bent them in "u" shapes to make the frame for my carriage shade.  I cut three watermelon slice sized pieces of organza, sewed slots at each seam with ribbon, and slipped a wire through each slot.

I added more trim to the front of the carriage shade.  I also had the impulse to make a little, lavender crocheted, baby throw.  Now, they're ready for the Easter parade with their mom and dad!
